Sustainable Environment Arts Movement (SEAM)

TREES PLANTED

Fifteen Trees is a proud to support the local arts scene and when arty duo Tracy Bourne and Lisa Kendal established a production company called SEAM (Sustainable Environment Arts Movement), we were very interested. Earlier this year, SEAM wrote and produced a climate play for secondary school students called Ella’s Choice. We jumped at the chance to kick in some trees to reduce the carbon footprint of the play.  Thirty trees were planted at Queensland’s Innisfail State College, these trees were part of a larger planting by the school. Thirty trees will help collect the carbon emissions from the 2 SEAM vehicles for one year. Through the lens of a dairy farm in Western Victoria, Ella’s Choice takes the students on a powerful journey. Woven through the main story are some of the consequences of climate change on some of the most vulnerable people in the world (Bangladesh, Tuvalu and central Africa). The play (50 minutes) is being offered as a Year 9/10 outreach program. Teacher resources are available to help move the play into the classroom. This unique program combines the power of the Arts and Science to engage, educate and inspire action on climate change. For most schools, there is no cost to the students.
