Trees planted at Whirrakee (Vic)

TREES PLANTED

Dear Colleen, The Northern Bendigo Landcare Group collaborated with 1st Eaglehawk Cubs and Scouts to plant 35 trees thanks to the generosity of the Fifteen Trees program.  The indigenous species were planted along a road reserve as part of the Landcare group’s Whirrakee Wattle Biolink.  This will not only provide a corridor for biodiversity but will positively impact on river health. Thank you to all those who supported through Fifteen Trees. Nicole Howie, Secretary, Northern Bendigo Landcare Group phone 086:viatek The 35 trees planted were actually part of a bigger planting project in the district that Fifteen Trees was proudly a part of.  Thank you to those who bought Greener By the Day calenders from the Fifteen Trees website, 5 trees have been planted for Donna Guille, Brigid Guille, Kerry McCuskey, Cassie Pedersen and Mary McIntosh. Thank you also to Helen Pritchard and Ian Culbard (CERES) who both kicked in for 15 trees each. Ian wanted the new CERES mobile energy classroom to run with a low carbon footprint. The refurbished ambulance travels out to regional and remote schools to demonstrate future energy solutions to students. Anyone in the Melbourne area, should seriously go visit this amazing community environmental park. And of course, thank you to Nicole Howie, who is taking such good care of our native environment. Slainte – Colleen
