Specialising in cool climate wines, Delatite Wines are located looking toward Mt Buller in north-east Victoria. Established in 1982 by Robert and Vivienne Ritchie and it is now run by their son David with the assistance of winemaker Andy Browning. The 26 hectare vineyard sits between 450 and 500m above the sea on slopes that vary in gradient and outlook. Ideal wine growing country.

Delatite Wines follow Rudolf Steiner’s Biodynamic principles. They believe in growing grapes and making wine in as natural a way as possible with minimal additions. No herbicides, insecticides or systemic/curative fungicides are used.
In the past, David has personally planted many thousand of native trees in the surrounding country-side. It is a pleasure to continue this tradition on David’s behalf. This year, we planted their 150 trees with the Kim Magnay and the Mansfield Up2Us Landcare Alliance.
Tree planting with Up2Us
For national tree day Up2Us Landcare Alliance teamed up Friends of the Great Victorian Rail Trail Group( FGVRT) and the Fords Creek Landcare Group to host a tree planting along the rail trail 7km out of Mansfield. We had 65 volunteers turn up and planted approximately 250 stems. The FGVRT group are a newly formed group that have completed two sections of revegetation this year and a lot of maintenance along the rail trail. The plantings will eventually create corridors for wildlife to move along while creating a great public space to be enjoyed by the community and its many visitors.

This year, we planted Simon’s trees at Westgate Park in Port Melbourne with the team from Westgate Biodiversity, a not-for-profit organisation located at the base of one of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks and busiest gateways to the city.
