TREES PLANTED

‘Hello there Colleen, Just a note to say a big thanks to you and the businesses of Ballarat for the funding and the help received in regards to the ‘fifteen trees’ project. What a great initiative it is… At the moment, my husband and I are unemployed and unable to fund completing a corridor around our property that we started in 2003. (Now) with all your help we have been able to almost complete the side closest to the road. Just two more rows to go and we will have a great corridor for the wildlife and the birds as well as a bit more privacy for us. Believe me, that those of us who accepted your kind offer of trees really appreciate them. Although some of us may be land rich compared to others we are money poor and with this great contribution from the businesses of Ballarat we can improve our land and the businesses will know that they have helped us along the way. Enclosed please find some pictures we took. I used the bags and even the sticks and some new weed-mat stuff that we had left over from last time. Again I say a big thanks to you for your chatty emails and all the information, you have been a great help and thank you (also to the) business owners of Ballarat – your funding for this project has been wonderful’ J & G P.

While the owners of Serenity Farm thanked Ballarat businesses for their trees, it was in fact a mixture of businesses and individuals who actually paid for the trees. Many thanks must go to Yum Productions (Ballarat) and B’itch Body Oils (Coburg), two fantastic businesses that jumped onboard immediately. Thank you also to a dynamic couple from Bendigo (Kerry McCuskey and Steve Turner) and another inspiring couple from Ballarat (Julie Phillips and Ross Gillett) who generously saw the need to make a contribution to greening our environment. Between them all, they funded the planting of 60 trees at Serenity Farm this month.

David Cook-Doulton and Martin Shew always thought regional towns of Ballarat and Bendigo had a world-class feel. They could see it in the wide streets, the grand buildings and beautiful botanical gardens. And so two world-class hotels were created – Hotel Vera (Ballarat) and Hotel Ernest (Bendigo). Both hotels link luxury with environmental awareness as part of ‘true luxury, founded upon environmental integrity’.
