Launch is proud to partner with Fifteen Trees to support our carbon footprint reduction initiatives. We are passionate about making a positive contribution to a sustainable future. Part of our mission, ‘Changing Lives For The Better’, is to actively contribute to the health of our planet. We are committed to leaving the world better than we found it and planting hope for generations to come.

We’re proud to play a small role in restoring ecosystems, reducing carbon footprints, and creating a cleaner, greener world. Thank you to Fifteen Trees for providing an opportunity for people to get involved with their community and build a connection to the land.

Daintree Rainforest, QLD | 60 trees | 2025

Daintree Life in conjunction with local community volunteers planted the trees at Newell QLD (Nulu Country) which is part of a bigger restoration project called The Bells Road Project.

Students from local schools assisted in the planting.

The trees were planted over a number of days and weeks, during which 121 people attended. This number also included school groups who are learning about;

  • the geography of the local area,
  • what wildlife are specific to the area,
  • how the tree planting will provide ongoing food resource and habitat for the wildlife,
  • the importance of various tree species specific to invertebrates that rely solely on an individual species for food resource, and
  • the positive effects of tree planting in relation to carbon sequestration and climate change.

Daintree Life included in the planting, a large variety of indigenous tree species specific to the area including figs, Eucalypts, Melaleucas, Acacias and other species such as Red Cedar, Brown Silky Oak, Brown Pine, Golden Penda to name a few.

The unique wildlife in the Daintree Rainforest.

This planting site is in the Lower Daintree rainforest area of Tropical Far North Queensland with a waterway which feeds directly to the Great Barrier Reef. The site where the revegetation work is being conducted is part of a large farm area which was previously cleared for cane and cattle farming; however, the area is very low lying and is not suitable for hooved animal farming. The landowners have chosen to return this area of the property back to authentic rainforest, compete with State Government protection, which has been included to the title deeds of the property ensuring protection for perpetuity.

The land was unsuitable for farmland and due to an overburden of weeds and has also not been of benefit for wildlife as habitat or food resource. But by replacing the weeds with forest, it will now provide both habitat and food.

We are eternally grateful to Fifteen Trees and their sponsors who continue to support our work. Without this ongoing support we cannot continue to do what we do in revegetation, expanding habitat and improving the environment of our unique area and supporting our local wildlife.

Connie Pinson | Partner and Founder | Daintree Life

Numerous bird species have been observed and taking advantage of the revegetation. These species include, but are not limited to: Yellow-bellied Sunbirds, Greater Egrets, Willie wagtails, Rainbow Bee-eaters, multiple species of Kingfishers and Masked Lapwings. Graceful tree frogs and Rocket frogs are regularly sighted within the planting areas. There is lots of evidence of Bandicoot diggings between trees and on the edges. A Water Python has been sighted in the revegetation area.  Numerous species of butterflies and dragonflies have been observed within the area. In the future as trees attain additional height and begin flowering and fruiting, the entire area will provide a valuable food resource for Spectacled Flying-foxes which are a federally listed endangered species.

Bombay, NSW | 60 trees | 2024

The trees were planted on the behalf of Launch Recruitment at Bombay, on the the upper Shoalhaven River, on the traditional lands of the Ngarigo and Yuin nations. Conservation reserves in the area include Tallaganda National Park and Tallaganda Conservation Area. Most of the district was historically cleared and is still used for pastoral activities.

Dry Sclerophyll Forest of Bombay, now with 60 new trees (and guards) thanks to Launch.

This region is predominately made up of vegetation associated with Dry Sclerophyll Forests.  The Eucalyptus tree canopy is sparse to mid-dense and consists predominately of Broad Leaved Peppermint, Red Spotted Gum and Scribbly Gum. The occasional Black Sheoak forms part of a sparse small tree layer. The Bombay region is also home to the critically endangered Bombay Bossiaea, a wiry shrub, with pea shaped yellow flowers growing in the steep valley of the Shoalhaven River.

We are absolutely delighted to benefit from your wonderful generosity.  The local land owners who form the Bombay Landcare Group take great pride in their efforts to put back into the local environment. We have used your donation to purchase ‘fit for purpose’ local species to regenerate the land. From the prevention of erosion to building wildlife corridors, the regeneration effort of our group will no doubt have a positive and lasting impact on the region.

Carmen Byrne | President | Bombay Landcare Group

Some of the species of trees planted at the site included; Wattles (Snowy River, Silver, Green and Blackwood), Hakeas, She-Oaks and Gums (Black, Red Spotted, Yellow Box, Black Sally and Ribbon), Bottlebrushes (Riber, Scarlet, Lemon and Crimson) and Tea trees.

Axe Creek, VIC | 60 trees | 2023

Launch’s trees were planted at Axe Creek on Dja Dja Wurrung land, known as djandak. The site has a Trust for Nature covenant on it to preserve it in perpetuity. The Campaspe River runs through the site.

A sunny spring morning. Perfect for tree planting.

Due to long-term grazing, the understory had been destroyed with very little native grass, native shrubs or flowers remaining. The beautiful big old eucalypts were intact though. Close to the river they are the iconic River Red Gums and higher up away from the river it is mainly Grey Box, many of which are large and very old with numerous hollows. Three of these trees are registered scar trees.

The project, in simple terms, has been to remove the sheep, progressively eradicate the weeds and introduced grasses and plant indigenous grasses and shrubs in their place. Kangaroo grass, wallaby grass, wattle varieties, Austral indigo, various native daisies, hop bush, hakea and weeping she-oaks are some of the species that have been planted at this site.

A variety of plant species is vital to a healthy ecosystem.

The property is blessed with a wide range of wildlife, such as;  kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, platypus, possums, a wonderful array of birds and reptiles. Some of the more interesting examples are the Tawney Frogmouth, Powerful owl, Azure Kingfisher, Spotted Pardalote, Tree Creeper and Robin Redbreast.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this wonderful assistance we have received. It is gratefully accepted.

400 TREES PLANTED

January 6, 2026
David Cook-Doulton and Martin Shew always thought regional towns of Ballarat and Bendigo had a world-class feel. They could see it in the wide streets, the grand buildings and beautiful botanical gardens. And so two world-class hotels were created – Hotel Vera (Ballarat) and Hotel Ernest (Bendigo). Both hotels link luxury with environmental awareness as part of ‘true luxury, founded upon environmental integrity’.
