Di and Brad Stranbrook from G.J. Gardner Homes Mildura are generous supporters of local community groups, and their tree planting projects. This year Di, Brad and their team purchased 750 native trees for the local region.
Since 2013, they have helped with the planting of over 7,000 native trees.
The local Landcare group in consultation with the nursery determine the best tree and shrub species for the region. The seedlings themselves are grown by local independent nurseries who have collected seed from the region by hand.
One of the planting sites was in the township of Werrimull VIC. The local P-12 School planted in the pioneer tree plantation behind the war memorial, where each mature tree has a plaque with a pioneer family name on it. Another planting site included the Resource Centre at Cullulleraine.
Some of the trees planted included a variety of Eucalyptus, Acacia, Hakea, and Belar (also known as Rosewood). These trees and shrubs will provide wind breaks to lessen wind erosion and provide shade, shelter and habitat for local wildlife such as the Regent Parrot, Yellow-tailed Cockatoos, Echidnas, Kangaroos and the endangered Growling grass frog.
G.J. Gardner’s core business is building homes. Safe, secure places for families to grow and thrive for many years to come. We love that alongside this G.J. Gardner is planting forests, which is very much the same thing; safe, secure places for fauna and flora to grow and thrive for many years to come.
Thank you Di and Brad for your continued support of our tree planting projects in the north western region of the state.
