TREES PLANTED

Pana Chocolate has signed on again with Fifteen Trees to ensure our native environment receives the love it so needs. The man behind the chocolate Pana Barbounis, has committed to 12,000 trees this year! PC_Logo_Primary_Tag_1_FA1 The trees shown here on this post are actually from last year’s commitment of 11,000 trees. We were a little short so have planted another 1,400 trees to get us to the true total. Of the 1,400 trees, 900 have gone to the Flowerdale District of Victoria and 500 have been given out to Pana customers at the Richmond shop in Melbourne and the Alexandria shop in Sydney. At Flowerdale, over a couple of days, Stephen Joblin and his team planted out his trees along with some bank volunteers from both NAB and ANZ. Stephen wrote the following report …
On June 6th, Chris Cobern, myself and 6 volunteers from NAB planted a hill site with 150 seedlings. This site was planted 2 years ago with plants donated through Pana Chocolate. The previously planted seedlings are doing well considering they are planted on exposed sites with little topsoil. After 2 seasons survival they are likely to keep on growing and in 10 years we hope to have a visible open woodland established. On June 7th,  750 seedlings were planted at Wayne and Pam Watson’s property where the Pana Chocolate planting took place last year. This time on a gully above the creek. This was achieved with Heather, Pam and Wayne and assisted by Chris Cobern and a group of volunteers from ANZ. Thank you Pana and Colleen. A great partnership for landcare groups in our district. In May 2016, Pana Chocolate Sydney and Melbourne gave out a free Pana Chocolate tree with every purchase. All up 250 trees in Melbourne and Sydney were given away. The trees were beautiful Australian natives, including wattle and lemon myrtle. Customers and staff alike were delighted to take home trees to plant in their gardens, implementing the Pana chocolate motto to “Love your insides. Love the Earth”.
