By |2021-07-26T15:42:31+10:00July 26th, 2021|Fifteen Trees, Tree Planting in Victoria|0 Comments

Here’s an interesting fact – you don’t have to be a big business to make a big impact. You can be a small business, even a tiny one, and still make a significant positive contribution to the environment. We already know that small businesses are vital for local economies, that they keep money in the community and support local interests in myriad different ways. They also provide opportunities for entrepreneurs, [...]

By |2021-07-16T18:11:23+10:00July 16th, 2021|Fifteen Trees, Small Business, Tree Planting in Victoria|0 Comments

Shaw Contract is all about foundations. Their core business is quite literally the world beneath our feet: floor coverings. They talk a lot about stability, sustainability, resilience and support, all key words that resonate strongly with us here at Fifteen Trees. The Shaw Contract team on corp tree planting day at Narmbool Thursday April 29th Shaw Contract put its broader sustainability credentials into practice recently with a tree [...]

The Western Program Alliance (WPA) is a project team with a particularly specialised skillset – it is very good at removing level crossings. The WPA comprises McConnell Dowell, Arup and Mott Macdonald, Metro Trains Melbourne, VLine and the Level Crossing Removal Project. In amongst all their work is a strong vein of environmental action, from sourcing sustainable materials, to exploring more Earth-friendly alternatives, to setting up recycling and other ethical waste [...]

Macneil Group – Literal Legends

By |2021-07-15T10:46:46+10:00July 9th, 2021|Tree Planting in Victoria|0 Comments

We love it when businesses take us literally. Like the Macneil Group, which plants fifteen trees for each vehicle in its fleet. For those new to us, our name - Fifteen Trees - comes from a carbon offsetting calculation. The combined emissions from running a regular car for one year can be offset by planting fifteen trees. If this seems like a lot of trees…it is. Cars are polluters, there [...]

This Valentine's Day, we encouraged lovers to give a gift to the planet !     This year we suggested our social media followers express their Valentine’s Day love with the gift of trees. And wow, did they ever! Even The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald got in on the enviro-love, with a feature in their Take 5 section. In the end, thirty-two sweethearts decided that a seedling - which [...]

By |2021-06-15T13:46:44+10:00June 7th, 2021|Fifteen Trees, Tree Plantings, Tree Plantings in Tasmania|0 Comments

In the face of global challenges like climate change it can be so easy to feel overwhelmed. What difference can I make, me, one tiny person? But the thing is - it’s not just you. It’s me too. And her. And him, and them over there, and their friends, and the bus driver, and the salesperson, and old mate down the street, and on and on. It’s us. Together, as [...]

Love for Mother. Love for Planet.

By |2021-05-08T19:13:28+10:00May 5th, 2021|Tree Plantings in Victoria|0 Comments

Happy Mother's Day! How can we acknowledge motherhood? How do we choose a symbol for something as central to our humanity as the very place we grew, the human being who nurtured us before we even knew ourselves? How can we make space for the mothers no longer with us, for the mothers who’ve lost children, or those who could not raise their own? Of course, there is no simple [...]

By |2021-04-22T10:00:22+10:00April 20th, 2021|Fifteen Trees, Tree Planting in Victoria|Comments Off on Seeing the paper and the trees!

We love an obvious link between the things we consume and the ways we can offset our consumption. And could there be anything simpler than planting trees to make up for the paper we use? Newington College in NSW has decided to apply this elegant solution to its 2020 paper usage. This thoughtful school has recently purchased 90 trees from Fifteen Trees, in recognition of the fact that its unavoidable [...]

The forum, due to take place in on 20-21st April, will bring together governments of all levels, businesses, universities, start-ups, students and community organisations. This rich brew of [...]

Ecotreasures. Showing Gratitude.

By |2021-03-01T15:43:51+11:00March 1st, 2021|Tree Plantings in Victoria|1 Comment

Hands up who’d rather be on a paddleboard right now, exploring pristine waters in one of the most naturally beautiful stretches of urban coast in the world? Yeah, us too. Ecotreasures’ Damien McClellan does this for a living. Well, this and snorkelling, kayaking, camping, trail walking…you know, just a typical day in the office.   The Basin camping tour.   But Damien doesn’t take any of this for [...]

The Ultimate Guide to Help Prevent Deforestation.

By |2021-04-29T09:54:23+10:00March 1st, 2021|Blog|Comments Off on The Ultimate Guide to Help Prevent Deforestation.

Wilderness. We all have an image in mind of what that word means. Some might picture the majestic mountains, glaciers, and towering conifers of Alaska, while others might imagine the vast expanse of the Amazon, teeming with all sorts of life. Humans are of course part of nature, but these wilderness areas are places of refuge that remain remote from human cities, infrastructure, and encroachment. In the 21st century, such refuges [...]

Linux.conf! A festival of ideas!

By |2021-02-23T14:14:26+11:00February 23rd, 2021|Tree Planting in Victoria|Comments Off on Linux.conf! A festival of ideas!

Running since 1999, linux.conf.au is the largest linux and open source conference in the Asia-Pacific region. For techno-luddites like us, linux.conf is a conference for people who know a lot about the inner workings of operating systems and data, and who use this knowledge to connect and engage communities all over the world. The linux conference itself is a festival of expertise and ideas delivered by leaders in the field, [...]

Individuals who make a difference!

By |2021-05-13T12:56:12+10:00February 23rd, 2021|Fifteen Trees, Tree Plantings in Victoria|Comments Off on Individuals who make a difference!

People from all walks of life can do things each day to reduce their carbon footprint and make their routine more eco-friendly. Becoming an environmental warrior doesn’t require a superhero-like effort. Something as simple as getting your super & investments out of one of the big 4 banks* or going green with your energy provider. And then there are those eco-warriors, who purchase trees to enable us to support Australian community [...]

From the UK to AUS with love!

By |2021-05-11T12:26:53+10:00February 9th, 2021|Tree Plantings in Western Australia|Comments Off on From the UK to AUS with love!

When Oblong looked into offsetting their own emissions, they found the process overly complicated and lacking in integrity. So they developed Oblong Trees, a company that streamlines offsetting, doesn’t get too bogged down in precise calculations, and makes a tangible difference. Importantly, Oblong Trees recognises that there is limited space in the UK, and that trees planted on the other side of the world are just as vital for combatting [...]
