Planted in

Granted Constructions and a sea of growing trees!

Imagine living in a house that minimises your energy bills simply through its design. This is the dream of passive house building, and the central ethos of Granted Constructions, a Victorian home building company that is serious about sustainability.

TREES PLANTED

200

The team at Granted Constructions vision is built on their shared enthusiasm for bad jokes and desire to become leaders in sustainable, quality building projects, two passions we are very much on board with.

Their commitment to the environment ranges from the obvious – designing homes that work with the environment instead of against it – to the backend – sourcing quality materials and continually looking at ways to reduce their business impact.

Birds will call our trees their future home

One hundred native trees and shrubs will grow tall and strong to provide habitat to many species at Buloke Shire, NW Victoria, which takes in townships such as Birchip, Charlton, Donald, Sea Lake and Wycheproof, thanks to Granted Constructions. Bushwalkers will be able to enjoy their impressive canopy for future generations, providing the all important shade in an area that can get fiercely hot under the Australian summer sun.

2020 plantings

In 2020 Granted Constructions partnered with Fifteen Trees to plant 100 trees.

Granted’s trees have been planted at Murrindindi by volunteers from the Upper Goulburn Landcare Group (UGLN). Murrindindi is one of the areas devastated by the Black Saturday bushfires, and has also inherited a landscape long impacted by insensitive farming practices and clearing. As you might imagine, landowners and Landcare groups have a list of priorities a foot long. We are proud to be able to connect generous, like-minded sponsors like Granted with these projects, and know their trees will make a long-term difference to the region.

In the Woiwurrung language of central Victoria the name Murrindindi means ”living in the mountains”. As we turn slowly into summer, is there anything more inviting than the thought of lying back on a big shady veranda high up in the mountains? And how much more satisfying if one’s hammock swung from the beams of a passively built house, and the view was a sea of growing trees.

Our thanks to Granted Constructions for making this dream a possibility in more ways than one. Here’s a comment from owner Devin Grant.

‘The reason we choose to support tree planting projects is because – we build enduring homes, so we want to plant enduring trees! Trees that will provide habitat and a healthier environment for everyone on earth for many years to come!”
