It’s got to be a GJG tree!

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013. By the end of this year, Ross and the team at GJG will have helped plant over 56,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year alone, the relationship between G.J. Gardner Homes and Fifteen Trees, will see over 11,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups.

The partnership with Fifteen Trees allows G.J. Gardner teams to go into the field for some team building activities as well as help support the local community.

Ashley and Sally Heard from G. J. Gardner Homes Ararat are generous supporters of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year, Ashley and Sally purchased 300 trees for the Northern Grampians District of Victoria. The trees were planted by students, teachers, parents and Landcare volunteers in Wartook Valley.

On the morning of Tuesday 18th June,  Laharum Primary School Students, teachers, parents and Laharum Landcare volunteers spent over 2 hours planting 300 indigenous tube stock at a property in Wartook Valley.

Kelsey, the owner of the land is delighted that her new property is now well on its way to becoming a mecca for native birds and animals. The local native fauna need this type of habitat to enable them to venture out and beyond the Grampians National Park boundary.

It was an enjoyable morning working with this enthusiastic group of local country kids, who have experience with projects like this, after working with me in the past. We did dodge a few light showers of rain but having heavy rain start just as we finished, meant that the plants got an extra deep watering.

Thank you Ashley Heard and Sally Heard of G.J. Gardner Homes for donating these plants and giving these children a chance to be reminded about the values of our natural environment.

Trees for a great project. Thank you to Ashley and Sally for providing the trees to Kelsey to help look after our native birds and mammals.
