To mum with love from G.J. Gardner Homes.

Ross Morley, Managing Director of G. J. Gardner Homes has been supporting our native environment (through Fifteen Trees) since 2013. By the end of this year, Ross and the team at GJG will have helped plant over 56,000 trees across Victoria and Tasmania. For every new home built, Fifteen Trees organises the planting of 15 trees in the local district. This year alone, the relationship between G.J. Gardner Homes and Fifteen Trees, will see over 11,000 trees planted by schools, landcare and various environmental groups.

The partnership with Fifteen Trees, allows G.J. Gardner teams to go into the field for some team building activities as well as giving some support to the local community.

Danny Breen and Kris Gill from G. J. Gardner Homes Bendigo are generous supporters of local community groups and their tree planting projects. This year Danny, Kris and their team purchased 1265 trees for Nicole Howie and the Northern Bendigo Landcare Group.

Trees for mum

Our first planting event was Trees For Mum held on Sunday 12th May (Mother’s Day) in the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve. Trees For Mum is a beautiful way to honour mums present or past and it is a really heartwarming event.

What a beautiful afternoon we enjoyed ! Stunning weather, lots of happy families spending time together in the great outdoors and 200 healthy trees added to the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve. Lots of comments were received from participants so appreciative for the opportunity to celebrate Mother’s Day in such a unique way.   Participants were able to leave a message on a tree guard and walk away knowing that they were nurturing our local environment and community, just as our Mums nurture us.  They were even able to enjoy a cuppa and some yummy slices thanks to the generosity of G.J. Gardner Homes Bendigo.

Our second planting event was National Tree Day on Sunday 28th July, again in the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve.  It was an incredibly successful event with 60 awesome community members of all ages smashing out the planting of hundreds of native tubestock on a beautiful winters day.  We totally transformed an open area of riparian zone and look forward to the improved habitat this will provide in the years to come.

National Tree Day is an iconic annual event that encourages people to get involved in local environmental works and we are so grateful to Fifteen Trees and G.J. Gardner Homes Bendigo for the donation of trees that helps our precious funds stretch all that much further.

More trees for mums

Thank you Danny and Kris for enabling this project to go ahead by purchasing 1265 native trees and shrubs for Nicole and her hardworking group of volunteers. Thank you also to Nicole for finding a site and co-ordinating the planting with the Northern Bendigo Landcare Group and Neangar Nursery.
