Since 2012, Peter Thompson from Thompson Family Funeral Directors (Castlemaine) has been working with Fifteen Trees to improve the native environment of the Central Highlands district of Victoria. The funeral home annually purchases one tree for every service conducted. This year, Peter’s trees (100) were planted at Newstead Primary School, by delighted students, teachers and parents.

Dear Colleen and Peter,

The trees donated by Thompson Family Funerals have already made a big difference at our little school. The front yard was quite barren so we were thrilled to be able to plant an area that previously had very little vegetation.

All the kids got involved and had lots of fun putting the 100 plants in the ground. We hope that, in time, this will become a corridor that will link to some aging Yellow Gums where Swift Parrots have sometimes been sighted. We can’t wait to see what other birds will visit as the new plants grow.

Newstead Primary School says Thank you Fifteen Trees and Peter Thompson!

What a great project!

Massive thank you to Peter for purchasing these trees for Newstead PS. There are many, many schools who would love to plant trees in their school grounds this Spring. If, like Peter, you are looking to make a difference: to support both our schools and our native environment, please contact us at <> or use our contact page.
