Brian and Maree Harrison (Harrison Funerals) are fabulous community members who, since 2010, have donated almost 500 mature trees to Ballarat primary schools and community gardens. The schools greatly benefit from the donation of trees for the school yard, providing shade to the students as well as a habitat for native species of insects and birds. Recently, Skipton PS and Sebastopol PS received 3 and 9 trees respectively.
Harrison Funerals ‘strive to ensure that every family’s funeral experience is a positive one and through (their) care and service (they) are able to ease some of the grief and assist the healing process’. Through Fifteen Trees, Harrison Funerals plant one mature tree on the behalf of every loved one entrusted into their care.
We would like to send our many thanks for inviting us to be part of the Fifteen Trees Program. We now have 6 trees growing beautifully in our school yard. The students have really valued the knowledge gained from the tree planting as well as looking after them and seeing them grow and begin to mature. The students have gained valuable knowledge of soil preparation, deciduous tree varieties, planning for long-term tree growth and looking after new trees.
