The Local Cafe and Sixty Trees.

TREES PLANTED

Tracey Simmonds is the wonderful owner behind The Local Cafe, Lydiard St Ballarat. You’ve got to love The Local. Not only does Tracey cook and produce the most amazingly fresh and delicious food, she also sells flowers, jewels, chocolate, teas, chai, home-wares, cordials….the list goes on!   thelocal   Tracey has bought 60 trees to reduce the carbon footprint of her cafe, as well as the 2 cars in her family. Tracey’s trees went out to Cynthia Cook who works in the area of Environmental Education at Villa Maria. The trees were planted by Cynthia and her family at Waubra. The aim is to increase the amount of native vegetation available for wildlife, to prevent erosion and to provide shelter for native and farm animals.   [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]

“On a clear day at the beginning of June 2017, trees that were donated by The Local Cafe, were planted by our family. Even the dogs and horses got in on the picture! The trees were sourced locally from Avalon Nursery near Ballarat, giving us a variety of different natives that had been grown in the nearby area and were already acclimatised to the chilly Ballarat weather. A mix of tall and short natives were selected to attract the native wildlife. Thanks to Fifteen Trees and The Local Cafe, we were able to plant a double row of trees along one of the lane-ways at Waubra. The trees will be shelter belts for wildlife, and start to vegetate the property which has predominantly been used for grazing”.
Cynthia Cook | Waubra   tree planting   Huge thank you Tracey for contacting Fifteen Trees and providing the funds to allow these trees to be planted. Thanks also for  your coffee, muffins, soup, pies and tarts but mostly for your guinness cakes! Slàinte – Colleen  [/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
