Queensland Innisfail State College (a combined secondary school and TAFE) have been working hard over a number of years to improve the area around their school and in particular the banks of the Johnstone River that runs behind the campus. Earlier plantings have helped stabilize the riverbank, and students are now encouraged to extend their project with more tree planting. The area is now (almost) free of weeds and the students have provided a wonderful habitat for local wildlife, especially native birds.
The school planted 280 trees of which Paul and Jenny from Blue Mountain Eco Tours (NSW) contributed 30. The couple’s main objective is to make sure that their customers have the best day possible in Blue Mountains. A huge thank you to this dynamic duo.
