TREES PLANTED

Tree Planting

Whipstick Vic.

Dear Colleen, On Sunday 10th August, the Northern Bendigo Landcare Group collaborated with 1st Eaglehawk Cubs and Scouts for a National Tree Day event, planting 165 trees thanks to the generosity of Viatek Central Victoria.  The indigenous species were planted along a road reserve as part of the Landcare group’s Whirrakee Wattle Biolink: Whipstick to Wellsford project.  This project aims to improve connectivity by using the Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve, old road reserves and private property to link the Whipstick Nature ConservationReserve with the Wellsford Forest – both very important tracts of remnant native forest.  This will not only provide a corridor for biodiversity but will positively impact on river health. A huge thank you to Peter Bull from Viatek Central Victoria for supplying the funds to enable the Northern Bendigo Landcare Group to purchase 165 native trees for the Whipstick district. These 165 trees will help reduce the carbon footprint of Peter’s fleet of 11 cars (15 trees/car). Viatek take sustainability seriously and have devoted space on their website to encourage other companies to make the necessary changes to reduce their carbon footprint. Viatek only work with environmentally responsible partners. Nice one Peter and Viatek. Slainte – Colleen[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
