Manangatang P – 12

TREES PLANTED

Along the Mallee highway towards the top north western corner of Victoria you will stumble across the small rural township of Manangatang (pop 3200). Nestled in this wheat and sheep country is the tiny school of Manangatang P-12. Donna Barry is the President of the Parents and Friends group and she contacted Fifteen Trees looking for support for the school’s tree planting program. I was delighted to help out with 140 trees. Hi Colleen, I have attached some photos of the trees we have planted at Manangatang. The trees where planted with secondary students and parents around the secondary area. It was a cold but productive day. The trees have been planted in staggered rows to create screening and a wildlife sanctuary around the back of the school. Thank you to Fifteen Trees supporters for our wonderful trees.  Regards – Donna Barry [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]
Looks very dry up in the Mallee district.

I need to thank a number of people for these trees. Firstly a huge thank you to Asha Cato from Angus & Celeste for your contribution of 75 trees. Angus & Celeste is a wonderful store that stocks beautiful handmade ceramic items. Asha and Keir donate $1.00 to Fifteen Trees for every on-line purchase. Thank you to my favourite professor, Charles Taliaferro from St Olaf College in Minnesota USA. Charles had 30 trees planted for his 2 classes (Philosophical Theology and Aesthetics) and has named the trees after his students – Kyle, Betsey, Karly, Z, Tai, Schmidt, Alls, Akisame, Sadie, Allison, Hailey, Rachel, Tiepolo, Robert, Majeskie, Robert Schlessinger, Cullom, Kaitlun, Darien, Mojo, Dwayne, Lucy, Erin Gregory, Tom, Groot, Naiyong, Rob and Cleo.
I was delighted to hear that Charles was one of 400,000 who marched in New York City to demonstate that people are getting fed up with politicians dragging their feet over climate change and that action is what we want. Meanwhile, here in Melbourne, I marched along with 30,000 people. These marches were held world wide.

Thank you too Sarah Miller from Embodiments Dance (she can be found in the southern suburbs of Melbourne), Suzannah Morrison from Swept Away (an eco-cleaning service for Melbourne Northside) for helping us to plant 30 trees and to Sam Tannahill (Climate Works) who asked for a tree to be planted as a gift to Niina Kautto.
And finally thank you to Sofia Fiusco, Sofia runs the Leadership Ballarat and Western Region (LBWR) wanted 4 trees planted on behalf of the group.
Big love to all those above.
