Pozible makes it possible.

Late last year I attempted a crowd funding project on Pozible, really just to see if I could get some alternative  funding for some trees that I was keen to plant in Kinglake.

My project? To raise enough money in 40 days to buy 400 trees (l like my maths simple). I figured 10 trees a day was doable.

Friends, colleagues & family all jumped on board, along with lots and lots of people unbeknown to me. My project was shared and re-posted and even distant Irish cousins found me.

The up shot was that I could offer 400 trees to the Upper Goulburn Landcare group in the Murrindindi Shire. You will remember that this shire was decimated in the 2009 bush-fires.

“On Feb. 7, 2009, a day that was dubbed “Black Saturday” in Australia, deadly bushfires swept through the southern state of Victoria, leaving 173 people dead and 500 injured. In addition, more than 2,000 homes were destroyed, and experts estimated that the number of affected wildlife (killed or injured) could climb well into the millions”. Encyclopedia Brit.

The Pozible trees were planted on National Tree Day (Sunday July 28th) at the Kinglake Community Neighborhood House. I made a small video to show the planting site and introduce a few of the people involved.

Here is the YouTube link.

Warmest thanks to all the Pozible supporters.
