Brolgas at Haddon Reserve.

TREES PLANTED

Hi Colleen.

On National Tree Day at the Haddon Reserve, Don and Vaughn (from Goldfields Weed Management) and myself planted 200 trees, kindly donated by supporters of Fifteen Trees.

The photo of the Brolga below,  I took  just last Sunday.  There is currently a pair of Brolgas camped at Haddon and this one was calmly walking across the grassed area near the planting (along the western boundary of the reserve).  The mate was feeding along the edge of the wetland.  There could hardly have been a better place to be on a Sunday morning; quiet apart from birds calling, especially the native thrushes, balmy temperature, light breeze, bright morning sun and these magnificent Brolgas!  A huge thank you to Simon Mulqueen from F. W. Barnes & Son Funeral Directors of Ballarat. Simon and his team at the Darling St Funeral Home have been supporting Fifteen Trees for three years and have now helped plant 700 trees in the Ballarat district. Simon has one tree planted for every funeral service entrusted to his care. In 2011, F.W. Barnes funded 250 trees for St Francis Xavier Primary School and in 2012, another 250 trees went to Meredith and Ross Creek Landcare groups. Long time supporters of our community and our environment. Thank you once again Simon. Slainte – Colleen
