Tree Planting for Flexicar.

TREES PLANTED

Melbourne’s own car share company Flexicar has once again provided funding to Fifteen Trees to enable another 300 trees to be planted in Victoria. These trees were planted in the Brisbane Ranges across 2 locations at Balliang and Staughton.

The first 200 trees went out to the Kerr property in Balliang and were planted along the banks of The Little River by the family and volunteers from the Brisbane Ranges Landcare group. The Kerr property is part of a major project to re-vegetate the local river banks and it is in connection with Werribee Plains and Melbourne Water.  Some 12 km of Little River frontage  has been successfully fenced off and re-vegetated.

Allan and Carole Bartholomew from Staughton received 100 trees from Flexicar. The couple have an interest in sustainable living and are active in the Brisbane Ranges and Geelong Landcare Networks. On their property they are conserving substantial areas of original native grass land, particularly Kangaroo Grass, as well as extending the remnant native vegetation.

Forty of the cars in the Flexicar fleet are in the process of having their carbon emissions collected. To date, Flexicar have helped plant out 600 trees across Victoria, from Kinglake to West Gate Reserve and now to the Brisbane Ranges. Thank you to Simon Bracken (Marking Manager of Flexicar), who keeps his own carbon footprint small by commuting by bike to the offices at Flexicar.
