‘Hello Colleen, ……. the purpose of the trees is to provide shade for the animals (and to) hide the ever increasing number of houses on the horizon and simply because I love trees’.    V.S. Who doesn’t love trees ! Yes they provide us with shade and can block out unpleasant views, but they also absorb carbon from the atmosphere, help keep our water table and waterways clean, improve biodiversity in the local area plus provide our native animals with food and shelter. Not a bad effort from a small grove of trees ! With thanks to Peter King at King’s Cars, the land-carers of the small property at Sebastopol were able to put in 60 trees that otherwise would not have made it ‘into the ground’. New car owners; Worswick, Danne, Noonan and Knight all have a smaller carbon footprint thanks to a fabulous Ballarat dealership who take their environmental responsibility seriously.  King’s Cars have committed to carbon offsetting two models of cars (Citroen and Mitsubishi ASX) by organising with Fifteen Trees the planting of 15 trees for each car sold. Now we just need this rain to please stop to give the sun a chance.  Looking at the photos from the land-care groups and land-owners, all of our new plantings from across Victoria have had a terrific start with mulch and tree guards. Even with a government not really committed to tackling climate change, businesses such as King’s Cars have shown that it is an issue that we are all deeply concerned about. Cheers – Colleen    [/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

Tasman Cottage already gives you a chance to reconnect with nature, yet its manager Nick has taken an important next step. He recently purchased 150 trees in collaboration with us here at Fifteen Trees, an action which ensures vital habitat for our native fauna, such as the unique Tassie Devil.
